MA History

• To understand the background of our religion and culture of the world.
• The ability to identify an area of historical enquiry and engage in independent historical research.
• To recognize how different individuals, groups, organizations, societies, cultures and nations have interacted in the past and how those interactions have affected history.
• To impart moral education and values through great personalities

• Students will be able to acquire a broad knowledge of historical events and periods and their significance.
• To understand and critically recognize the Social, Political, Economic and Cultural aspects of History.
• The Students will confidently face the competitive examinations.
• Students will develop an inclination to do research and thus contribute for the development of the society.
• The students may acquire a knowledge of the changing nature of politics or kingdoms of the changing times.

The Department of History was established in 1975. M. A. (History) was started in 1984 and M. Phil., (History) in 1988. As most of the students hail from rural background the department strives to promote intellectual, moral, educational and cultural values.

To motivate the students to learn from the past for a better life in the present.

To promote liberal education, to understand the society, culture, art and architecture and to teach the human values.
