National Cadet Corps (NCC)

  • Our unit has been started in 1980 and sanctioned by 5 TN BN NCC Army Wing with 50 cadets; later it was transferred to 15 TN BN NCC. The strength is increased to 52 from the year 2017-18.
  • Our unit comes under “Coimbatore group” in Tamilnadu, Pondicherry and Andaman Nicobar Islands Directorate, Chennai.
  • Regular activities like Drill, Rifle Drill, Map Reading, Weapon Training, Field Craft and Battle Craft etc, are being organized for the cadets as per the syllabus framed by DG NCC, New Delhi. All cadets should attend either CATC or ATC camp conducted by 15 TN BN NCC.
  • Swatch Bharath Abhiyan, Yoga, Independence Day, Republic Day, Blood Donation, Cancer Awareness Rally and NCC Day celebration are the other programs conducted by our unit.
  • Our cadets have participated in various competitions in the State and National level and have won gold medals in IGC Shooting and South Zone Shooting Competitions for three consecutive years and participated in the Inter Directorate Shooting Competitions.
  • Three cadets V.D. Kalpana, A. Savitha, II.B.Com and B. Meenakshi, III.B.Sc Chemistry were represented Coimbatore group Basket ball team to participate in the Inter-group Basket Ball Tournament-2016 at Pondicherry and the team won the silver medal. They also represented the Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman Nicobar Islands Directorate team to participate in the Inter- Directorate Basket Ball Tournament-2016 at New Delhi.
  • Cadet K. Gowri from B.Com participated in the Inter-group Shooting Competition and South- zone Shooting Competition and won gold medal in both the events in the year 2015 and 2016 respectively. She also represented the Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman Nicobar Islands Directorate team to participate in the Inter- Directorate Shooting Competition-2015 and 2016 at Asansol, West Bengal.
  • Cadet G. Deepika from III. B.Sc., Mathematics participated in the Inter-group Shooting Competition and South- zone Shooting Competition and won gold medal in both the events in 2017. She also represented the Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman Nicobar Islands Directorate team to participate in the Inter- Directorate Shooting Competition-2017 at Asansol, West Bengal.
  • Four cadets have participated in Basic Leadership Camp at Chennai in 2014 and Tanjur in 2017.
  • Three cadets have participated in Advanced Leadership Camp at Agra in 2015 and 2018.
